POTUS vs SCOTUS on ObamaCare

Is President Obama worried about the pending Supreme Court decision on his signature legislation, ObamaCare?  It would appear so.  Today (Monday April 2nd) the President felt the need to fire, what some are calling, a warning shot at the Supreme Court.  Obama said that rejecting that law would be “judicial activism.”  Obama said, “…I’d just remind conservative commentators that, for years, what we have heard is, the biggest problem on the bench was judicial activism, or a lack of judicial restraint, that an unelected group of people would somehow overturn a duly constituted and passed law.” 

I would remind the President that the Supreme Court is not writing or rewriting the law.  They are merely deciding whether or not it’s Constitutional.  Whether the government can force people to purchase the insurance.  If they can, then the government could easily demand that people buy whatever the government decided it needs to sell.  The Chevrolet Volt perhaps?  How about Solyndra Solar Panels?

I know this will sound crazy but ObamaCare could even keep you from buying things.   Consider….  No doubt ObamaCare will issue ID Cards.  Let’s say you have high Cholestrol, maybe a weight problem, or heart condition.  Let’s also presume you are careful with your diet but once or twice a year you would like a Big Mac.  You show up at McDonalds, place your Big Mac order and then are asked for your ObamaCare card.  Why?  They swipe the card, it connects to a database that says you are not allowed this type of food.  Sounds nuts I know but could very easily be done.  The same at the grocery store, restaurant or local bar.

Another thing I dislike about ObamaCare that isn’t mentioned,  is that political preferences could be in place.  Let’s say you need a major procedure or maybe an organ transplant, the Independant Patient Advisory Board (IPAB), could cross check political donations you may have made.  If Democrats are in control and you are a Republican, could you be denied or back burnered?  Of course it works the other way as well.  You would probably never know and if you did, could you prove it?

The President said the Supreme Court is an unelected group and that it would be wrong for them to strike down a duly constituted and passed law.  The President seems to forget that he has appointed a Zillion Czars that have been establishing law.  The President apparently has conveniently forgotten that his Czars are unelected as well.

Since when does the President really care about the Constitution?  If I recall correctly, he recently made some recess appointments while Congress was technically in session.  Something he is not allowed to do but worked anyway because Republicans are too chicken sh…. to challenge him on it.  The appointments included three people to the National Labor Relations Board and Richard Cordray as the director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).   For a Constitutional Law Professor, Obama either doesn’t know crap about what he was teaching or could care less.  If I had been a student of his, I’d ask for my money back.

It’s widely believed that the Supreme Court has already made its decision.  The announcement however, won’t be made until sometime in June.
