Wisconsin Still Workin’ On Bills

Thanks to a very Gutsy Governor, Wisconsin has managed to balance its budget and avoid a $3.6 Billion debt hole over the next budget cycle.  There is however, a sizeable debt to be paid off.  It seems that over the years, Wisconsin’s government just couldn’t resist running up the old credit card.

Did you know that in 2009 Wisconsin had the seventh worst debt in the nation?  According to the Tax Foundation, Wisconsin in 2009, (2009 being the most recent year for which the numbers are available), had debt payments totaling 4.96% of the budget.

You probably thought that everything was all up to snuff.  What you need to remember, is that in Wisconsin with Governor Walker and a Republican controlled legislature, we are working on the problem.  We’re balanced now.  Next we work on Payin’ Off The Bills.  That’s why it’s so important that you give Governor Walker the time and hopefully the right people in the state legislature, to keep us on the course we are on.

Obama likes to say, “Yes We Can.”  In Wisconsin we can say, “Yes We Are!”

The MacIver Institute broke this story.  You can find out more there.
