Kloppenburg Recount…A Ploy?

I just read an interesting article at www.WisconsinReporter.com as to why Joanne Kloppenburg may have asked for a recount of the votes for the Wisconsin Supreme Court race.  The article written by Kevin Lee, says that a political science professor named Brian Schultz at Hamline University in Minnesota, has speculated that the recount may be “an attempt to stall matters until crucial issues come before the court.”  Professor Schultz is referring to the collective bargaining law that was recently passed by Wisconsin and is now tied up in litigation.  It could and probably will end up before the State Supreme Court.  If the election can be contested until and during its hearing before the court, that would mean that Justice Prosser, may not be there.  Prosser is  generally considered to be more right leaning which would give the high court a 4-3 conservative edge.

Would Kloppenburg ask for the recount for this reason?  Is she indebted to the unions who backed her with lots and lots and lots of money?  Just Asking.

Here is the direct link to the article.  You’ll find it interesting no matter which side of the political fence you’re on.
